Earth Charter News
Events and Activities
Pioneer Valley
western Massachusetts
Rob Petito initiated an Earth Charter consultation in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts, where Rob is a student at Hampshire College. A first-ever Earth Charter Summit was held on Oct. 8, 2005 at Hampshire College; turnout was low, but interest was high. Rob meets every Friday at the Hampshire College farm to discuss Earth Charter strategy. Monthly meetings offer further opportunity to engage more people in an Earth Charter dialog.

| Hudson-Mohawk
eastern New York
David Yarrow has begun an Earth Charter initiative in the Capitol region of eastern New York. Monthly meetings plan an Earth Charter weekend at Landis Arboretum after the Spring Equinox to gather regional sustainability leaders. David sees a second gathering in Summer 2006, probably at Union College or nearby in Schenectady. A third Earth Charter gathering will be the Onondaga Lake Peace Festival in early September. A very effective Earth Charter Summit for the Capitol region is possible by October 14, 2006.
