The Sanctuary at Turtle EyeLand
forget-me-nots, white violets, sweet ciceley, and bluebells

Turtle Island is an ancient and archetypal image to describe both own human nature, and our home planet: the Mother Earth. Indigenous cultures worldwide remember when, in Creation, Star Woman fell through a hole in the sky. This visitor from Heaven was caught by the winged creatures, who brought her down and put her on Great Turtle's back. Together, all creatures made the Earth as a resting place for this Sky Woman.

We are stardust. We huemans are the generations of children descended from Sky Woman and her daughter First Woman.

EyeLand is about consciousness. While an "island" is a place in physical geography, "eyeland" is our state of mind. Turtle EyeLand is about our condition of awareness of Nature, including our human nature, and our quality of attention to be present and participate in Nature as a family member of "all our relations."

Sanctuary is a refuge—to retreat, reflect and regenerate—a sacred space to reconnect with nature, self and spirit. The Earth is our Mothe-ship—a safe haven of refuge for Humanity to cooperate in community with Nature—all our relations. If we are gentle, generous and grateful, everything we need for our journey on Earth is provided.
